Jamestown NY- Three new furniture groups marketed by Bush
Industries under its Eric Morgan brand of set-up case goods furniture
have been nominated as finalists for the furniture industry's most prestigious
design awards. Bush's Tuxedo Executive Office, Tuxedo Entertainment and
Mason Hills Entertainment groups received this coveted recognition.
The American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) sponsors the Pinnacle
Design Achievement Awards. The winners of the 2004-2005 competition will
be announced on October 15 at the International Home Furnishings Market
in High Point, North Carolina.
All three Bush designs were created by Walt Shaw. Shaw is a 1974 graduate
of North Carolina State University in Raleigh with degree in Product Design.
He has extensive design experience with Bush Industries, Stanley Furniture,
American of Martinsville, Bassett Furniture, as well as consumer electronics
and related furniture for GE and RCA.
"I'm gratified to receive three nominations," said Shaw. "I'd
like to thank ASFD for this prestigious recognition. I'm truly grateful."
30 percent more entries were received this year, according to Christine
Evans, executive director of ASFD. The number of 2004-2005 submissions
was an all time high as well. A panel of 12 independent judges evaluated
the entries based on strict criteria that includes value to consumers,
visual appearance and function, use of materials and application of production
technology.
"When Bush returned to the Consumer Electronics Show in January
of this year, we branded our participation as 'Leading by design,'" said
Jim Schmidt II, V. P. of Merchandising and Marketing. "We knew we
had cutting-edge designs and our Pinnacle nominations confirm this. We
truly are leading by design. Walt Shaw and our design team are the best
in the business."
The furniture groups nominated for Pinnacle Design Awards are:
Tuxedo Executive- Combining
the look of Sheraton style with today's off-the-floor airy appeal, Tuxedo combines elements of the traditional past
with contemporary styling. The five-piece group of Home Office furniture
includes an executive desk, credenza, credenza hutch and two piers and
renders a thoughtful blend of style and functionality. Features include
durable melamine surfaces, sturdy hardware and ample storage and filing.
Tuxedo
Entertainment- Born of the same styling as Tuxedo Executive, this handsome
36" Entertainment Center has numerous features that enable a state-of-the-art
home theater system while integrating seamlessly into the home with its
storage and curio display functionality. When the center entertainment
section is in use, sliding frosted glass move to the sides and conceal
the left and right-side curio areas. When the entertainment functions
are not in use, the doors slide to the to the middle to reveal the curio
displays and their beautiful halogen lighting that cascades around the
keepsakes.
Mason
Hills Entertainment- This group of home entertainment furniture features
contemporary styling and Southern Parquet finish and includes two piers,
a video base and an adjustable bridge. The group accommodates both the
latest in home entertainment technology and older or "conventional" technologies.
However, the most intriguing aspect of Mason Hills is its adjustable bridge
which spans the distance between the two piers without showing an expansion
seam. The bridge has an adjustable range from 36-3/8" (video base
width) to 65", wide enough for large flat screen TVs.
The three Pinnacle Award finalists will be proudly on display in the
newly remodeled Bush Furniture and Eric Morgan showroom located at IHFC
Wrenn 547, phone 336-882-4413.
